Resident Evil: Extinction earns its keep by turning the series into a sun-scorched, post-apocalyptic road movie where the danger feels immediate and the momentum rarely lets up. The Nevada desert setting gives the film a striking visual identity—bleached skies, abandoned highways, and a constant sense that civilization has already lost—while the action is staged as pure, propulsive spectacle. Milla Jovovich anchors it all with the kind of cool, committed presence that makes even the wildest moments go down easy, selling both the physicality and the attitude. If you want deep character drama, this isn’t that kind of trip, but if you’re on the fence and craving fast-paced sci-fi horror with a slick look and a relentless drive, it’s a satisfying ride.

Resident Evil: Extinction is clearly aiming for slick, desert-road-war action with zombies, cool poses, and a no-nonsense heroine cutting through Umbrella’s latest mess. The problem is it often feels like it’s running on fumes: the plot is thin and occasionally nonsensical, the characters are more placeholders than people, and the action beats land exactly where you expect them to.
