Nicolas Winding Refn directs with a cold, steady confidence, letting the tension build in everyday moments until the whole day feels like a vise tightening, and Zlatko Burić’s Milo is so lived-in you can practically feel the exhaustion behind his menace. The film’s Copenhagen underworld has a grim, tactile realism—darkly funny in its petty humiliations, then suddenly terrifying when pride and panic collide. It’s not for the squeamish, and its brutality can be punishing, but if you want a crime thriller that hits like a nightmare and lingers like a tragedy, this one delivers.
