Dhoom (2004)
A gang of bikers headed by the cool-headed and arrogant Kabir is on a robbing spree in Mumbai. ACP Jai Dixit is put in charge of the case and he recruits a bumbling bike mechanic and racer to help Jai nab them.
What people think about Dhoom
Dhoom is the kind of slick, turbo-charged entertainer that understands its own mission: keep your pulse up, your eyes dazzled, and your foot tapping as Mumbai turns into a playground for audacious heists and roaring superbikes. Sanjay Gadhvi keeps the pace tight and the style glossy, cutting between chases and close calls with editing that makes the action feel clean, fast, and satisfyingly kinetic rather than noisy. John Abraham brings cool, controlled menace as Kabir, while Abhishek Bachchan anchors the film with a steady-cop intensity, and the buddy friction with Uday Chopra adds a breezy, crowd-pleasing lift. If you want a grounded crime drama, this may feel like “rule of cool” cinema—but if you’re on the fence and craving a high-energy thriller that never pretends it isn’t here to entertain, Dhoom delivers.
Dhoom is trying to be a glossy, high-octane cops-vs-bikers thrill ride, and when it leans into speed, swagger, and slick set-pieces, it delivers exactly that kind of popcorn rush. The problem is the story around those chases is pretty thin and often feels like it’s borrowing familiar beats rather than earning its own, so if you need tight writing, smart twists, or believable logic, you’ll likely get irritated. Performances and the stylish vibe (especially the villain’s cool factor) do some heavy lifting, but don’t expect much emotional depth or a crime plot that holds up under scrutiny. If you’re here for bikes, attitude, and momentum, it’s a fun time; if you want substance over style, this probably isn’t your movie.
