Hell Ride (2008)
Two rival bikers gangs, the Victors and the Six-Six-Six's, refuel their decades-old rivalry.
What people think about Hell Ride
Hell Ride is a loud, greasy valentine to old-school biker exploitation—less interested in polite storytelling than in attitude, speed, and the hypnotic thrum of engines rolling toward trouble. Larry Bishop directs with committed grindhouse swagger, bathing Southern California in a sunburnt, neon-mean atmosphere where every stare feels like a challenge and every truce feels temporary, while Michael Madsen lends the whole ride a bruised, mythic cool. If you’re on the fence, know this is the kind of movie that wins you over through vibe: pulpy, kinetic, and proudly excessive, like a double-feature artifact brought back to life. It’s also very much Rated R to the bone—graphic violence, heavy drug use, and frequent explicit nudity—so if that’s not your lane, steer clear; if it is, Hell Ride delivers a hard-charging, stylish throwback that doesn’t apologize for what it is.
Hell Ride is trying to be a grindhouse love letter to outlaw biker cinema—loud engines, louder threats, and a revenge plot that runs on pure attitude. The problem is the style often replaces substance: the story gets muddy, the dialogue strains for “cool,” and the pacing can feel like disconnected scenes stitched together between bursts of violence. Fair warning, the film’s treatment of women is frequently ugly and exploitative, and with the heavy nudity and sexual content it can cross from sleazy homage into something many viewers will simply find unpleasant. If you’re here for a rough-and-ready, cameo-packed vibe and don’t need coherence, you might get some guilty fun; if you want a solid thriller or anything resembling respect for its characters, you’ll likely regret the time.
