What begins with a brisk, funny wrong-place-wrong-time chase quickly settles into a romance that’s charming in the moment and surprisingly tender in the aftertaste, the kind that earns its melodrama instead of drowning in it. The problem is it can’t seem to decide what it wants to be for more than five minutes, so the shifts from comedy to heavy drama feel abrupt rather than earned, and the pacing often comes off rushed. If you’re expecting the tight charm and character depth of My Sassy Girl, this may feel like a rough draft with undercooked motivations and a messier script. Still, there are flashes of sweetness and sincere chemistry that might work for you if you’re in the mood for heightened, sentimental storytelling and can forgive uneven execution.
