Til Schweiger’s Jack Carver brings a surprisingly steady, charismatic center to the chaos, and the film moves with a brisk, video-game energy—quick firefights, sweaty escapes, and a constant sense that the island itself is closing in. Udo Kier clearly relishes the villainy, giving the whole enterprise a slightly mischievous, midnight-movie vibe that can be more fun than “good” in the traditional sense. It’s not for viewers seeking subtle sci-fi or polished storytelling, but if you’re on the fence and want a watchable, unapologetically schlocky action ride with a game cast and a few satisfyingly crunchy set-pieces, this is an easy yes.
