Transporter 2 (2005)
Professional driver, and former Special Forces officer, Frank Martin is living in Miami, where he is temporarily filling in for a friend as the chauffeur for a government narcotics control policy director and his family. The young boy in the family is targeted for kidnapping, and Frank immediately becomes involved in protecting the child and exposing the kidnappers.
What people think about Transporter 2
Transporter 2 is the kind of sleek, high-octane action movie that understands its own job description: keep you grinning, gripping the armrest, and marveling at how Jason Statham can turn a simple “professional driver” premise into a full-body, clockwork ballet of speed and bruises. Set in sunlit Miami with a glossy, almost comic-book confidence, it keeps the momentum roaring with inventive set pieces and fights that feel playful even when the stakes turn deadly. Louis Leterrier directs with a clean, punchy style that never lingers too long—every scene seems built to launch the next jolt of kinetic fun. If you want grounded realism or deep character drama, this isn’t that ride, but if you’re on the fence about a sharp, escapist thriller that delivers exactly the goods, it’s an easy yes.
Transporter 2 is trying to be a slick, high-octane escalation of the first film: bigger stunts, higher stakes, and Jason Statham doing cool-headed damage control while protecting a kid. The problem is the story runs on cartoon logic and convenience, so if you need your action thrillers to make even a little sense, you’ll be rolling your eyes between punches. Some of the chase work looks noticeably artificial, which undercuts the “real” adrenaline the movie is aiming for, even if the hand-to-hand fights still have snap and Statham remains the main reason to stay. If you’re in the mood for loud, glossy nonsense with a capable action star, it’ll do the job; if you want tight writing and grounded tension, this isn’t your ride.
