Colin Farrell brings a jittery, hungry vulnerability to Arturo, while Salma Hayek gives Camilla both fire and fragility, turning their push-pull connection into something messy, adult, and hard to shake. It’s not a tidy crowd-pleaser—there’s nudity, harsh edges, and a bittersweet temperament—but if you’re in the mood for a mature, atmospheric romance that lingers like sand in your shoes, it’s absolutely worth the trip.

Ask the Dust wants to be a smoky, Depression-era romance about ambition, identity, and two people using love as a ladder out of their own shame. The problem is it often feels like it’s acting at grit rather than living in it: the atmosphere can come off forced, the romance doesn’t always generate real heat, and Colin Farrell’s Arturo can feel miscast in a way that blunts the story’s emotional punch.
