The tone is tender, unsettling, and ultimately compassionate, with Stanley Tucci delivering one of those performances you can’t quite shake. It’s not an easy watch—and the fantasy flourishes may feel stylized for some—but if you’re open to an emotional, visually striking drama about loss and healing, it’s a powerful experience.

The problem is the film’s tone keeps lurching between harrowing real-world menace and glossy, dreamlike afterlife imagery, and those transitions can feel more confusing than moving. Some of the CGI-heavy “heaven” sequences are so stylized they risk pulling you out of the story, and the emotional beats can slide into sentimentality instead of earned catharsis.
