Jurassic World (2015)
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.
What people think about Jurassic World
Jurassic World earns its keep by turning a childhood daydream into a roaring, big-screen theme park ride—sleek, sunlit, and engineered for maximum awe. Colin Trevorrow stages the spectacle with a confident sense of scale, letting the dinosaurs feel both wondrous and dangerously real, while Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard provide the human spark: brisk chemistry, humor, and just enough heart to keep the mayhem grounded. The vibe is pure summer blockbuster—tense, breathless, and crowd-pleasing—built around set pieces that know exactly when to thrill and when to let you simply stare. It may not recapture the original film’s lightning-in-a-bottle ingenuity, but if you want a satisfying, exciting popcorn thriller that delivers on its premise, this one absolutely does.
Jurassic World is clearly trying to revive the wonder of the original by turning the island into the fully realized theme park people always imagined—bigger crowds, bigger spectacle, bigger stakes. The problem is that the story often feels like it’s running on franchise autopilot: familiar beats, thinly sketched characters, and plot turns that can be easy to predict if you’ve seen a few blockbuster thrill rides. It also asks you to swallow some pretty questionable logic in how the park operates and how problems escalate, which can pull you out of the tension if you like your sci‑fi a bit tighter. Still, if you’re here primarily for dinosaurs, glossy action set pieces, and a fast, popcorn-friendly pace, it delivers enough chaos and nostalgia to justify a watch—just don’t expect the original’s sense of discovery or impact.
