New York Minute is a fizzy, fast-moving New York City daydream that plays like a modern, tween-friendly screwball comedy—bright, breathless, and happily unconcerned with realism. It’s at its best when it lets the Olsen twins bounce off each other’s opposite energies, turning a simple trip into a kaleidoscope of subway sprints, near-misses, and escalating mix-ups that keep the momentum snapping along. Eugene Levy’s relentlessly earnest truant officer adds a goofy, good-natured pressure valve, while the city becomes a colorful obstacle course that’s more theme park than postcard. If you’re looking for grounded comedy or sharp satire, this isn’t it—but if you want a brisk, cheerful romp with sisterly heart and nonstop motion, it’s an easy, satisfying watch.

New York Minute is trying to be a fast, goofy “one crazy day in Manhattan” comedy that doubles as a sister-bonding story and a glossy star vehicle for the Olsen twins. The problem is it often feels like a checklist of wacky chases and contrived mishaps rather than a movie with real comedic rhythm, and some of the humor leans on dated innuendo and stereotypes that haven’t aged well.
