It plays like a Korean riff on American teen sex comedies—big, raunchy, and relentlessly energetic—yet it isn’t content to stay shallow, letting its characters stumble into moments of unexpected sincerity and earned tenderness. Im Chang-jung’s eager, perpetually doomed romantic makes embarrassment feel weirdly endearing, and Ha Ji-won brings enough warmth and gravity to keep the story from becoming just another string of dirty jokes. Fair warning: it’s crude, loud, and unapologetic about sex and bad behavior, but if you can roll with that vibe, you’ll find a surprisingly heartfelt rom-com hiding inside the mayhem.

Sex Is Zero is aiming for a raunchy campus rom-com with a heart, mixing underdog wish-fulfillment with occasional attempts at real emotional weight. The problem is it leans hard on crude, gross-out humor and humiliation gags, then abruptly swerves into heavy subject matter, which can feel less like “bold” and more like tonal whiplash.
