Hollywood Homicide (2003)

Hollywood Homicide is the kind of sun-baked L.A. buddy-cop movie that wins you over not by pretending its mystery is earthshattering, but by leaning into the delicious absurdity of two detectives who’d rather be selling houses and chasing auditions. Ron Shelton keeps the vibe breezy and irreverent, letting the city’s neon, freeways, and showbiz hustle become part of the joke, while Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett spark as an odd-couple pair whose banter is sharper than the bullets. The action and chases are there when you want them, but the real pleasure is the dialogue and the relaxed confidence of a movie that knows it’s more about hanging out with these guys than cracking the case.
