What people think about Torque
Torque is pure, pedal-to-the-metal cinema: a glossy, loud, unapologetically over-the-top biker fever dream that treats every chase like a music video with a death wish and a grin. Director Joseph Kahn leans into the “spectacularly trashy” vibe in the best way, delivering stylized stunts, punchy edits, and a self-aware swagger that makes the movie feel like it’s daring you not to have fun. Martin Henderson plays Cary Ford with earnest momentum, while Ice Cube brings heavyweight attitude to the mayhem, and the whole thing moves so fast you barely have time to question the physics. If you want grounded realism, look elsewhere—but if you’re in the mood for flashy thrills and unpretentious, high-octane escapism, Torque is exactly the kind of guilty pleasure that earns its pleasure.
Torque is trying to be a loud, glossy, tongue-in-cheek biker version of a Fast-and-Furious-style thrill ride, and director Joseph Kahn clearly wants you to treat it like a live-action energy drink commercial. The problem is the story and logic are basically optional, with a plot that zips from chase to chase so frantically you may stop caring who framed whom and why. If you need coherent motivations, believable stakes, or characters you can invest in, this will feel like noise with motorcycles. But if you can switch your brain off and enjoy over-the-top stunts, slick visuals, and a few knowingly goofy moments, it can work as disposable PG-13 action fluff.
