Angela Bettis gives Carrie a raw, wounded gentleness that makes you root for her even as dread gathers, while Patricia Clarkson turns the mother-daughter dynamic into a suffocating, mesmerizing pressure cooker. As a made-for-TV adaptation it’s necessarily a bit restrained, but that constraint can sharpen the mood: the film leans into atmosphere, character, and a surprisingly intelligent script that stays respectfully close to Stephen King’s spine of the story. If you want the flashiest or most graphic version, this may not be it—but if you’re curious about a faithful, performance-driven Carrie that aches before it terrifies, it’s well worth your time.
