The Dangerous Sex Date (2001)
The librarian of the university Xenia schedules a S&M blind date with the masochist Ghost to satisfy her fantasies and sexual desires. They spend the night in his apartment having kinky sex and on the next morning Ghost is dead with slashed throat. Xenia cleans her evidences and leaves the place, but Ghost's friend Silver investigates the murder of Ghost and finds her files in a CD.
What people think about The Dangerous Sex Date
The Dangerous Sex Date has the audacity to take an erotic, taboo premise and steer it into a tight, nervy thriller where desire and dread share the same heartbeat. Maria Martinelli keeps the mood claustrophobic and charged, trapping you in a world of late-night shadows, impulsive choices, and the sickening clarity of morning-after consequences. Stefania Bonafede gives Xenia a compelling mix of intelligence and vulnerability, while Rocco Siffredi brings a blunt, watchful intensity that turns the investigation into something personal and uneasy. It’s not for everyone—its sexual content is explicit and the vibe is deliberately uncomfortable—but if you want a 2001-era European drama-thriller that feels risky, pulpy, and surprisingly propulsive, this one delivers.
The Dangerous Sex Date is clearly aiming for a pulpy, erotic thriller where taboo desire collides with a whodunit, and it doesn’t pretend to be subtle about it. The problem is that the “thriller” side often feels thin and convenient, with character motivations that can come off more like setup than psychology, so if you’re expecting a tightly plotted mystery, you may get impatient. The sex and S&M elements are front and center, and the film leans into exploitation-style shock, which will be a hard no for anyone who wants restraint, romance, or emotional depth. That said, if you’re in the mood for a sleazy, late-night genre curio with a noir-ish premise and you don’t mind rough edges, it delivers exactly that and little more.
