The Hot Chick (2002)

The Hot Chick is the kind of shameless, high-concept comedy that commits so hard to its body-swap premise it circles back around to being strangely charming. Rob Schneider goes all-in on the physical awkwardness and identity panic, but the real secret weapon is Anna Faris, who brings a bright, game-for-anything energy that keeps the movie buoyant even when the jokes get broad. Beneath the PG-13 raunch and mall-era teen nonsense, there’s an unexpectedly sweet current about empathy, friendship, and what it takes to stop being the person everyone fears and start being someone worth rooting for. It’s not for anyone allergic to crude humor, but if you’re in the mood for a cheerful, fearless early-2000s time capsule with more heart than it has any right to, it’s an easy watch.

The Hot Chick is aiming for a goofy, fantasy body-swap comedy with a built-in “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes” lesson, and you can see what it wants to be: broad laughs, quick pace, and a mean-girl redemption arc. The problem is the movie leans hard on crude, repetitive slapstick and “isn’t this gross/awkward?” jokes, so the central gimmick starts feeling stretched long before the credits.
