The problem is that the deeper it digs into the “why,” the more the plot starts to feel overexplained and a bit mechanically contrived, with pacing that can drag as it marches through clues. If you want your horror to stay ambiguous and emotionally sharp, the backstory-heavy unraveling and the payoff may leave you cold.
