The Last Castle (2001)

Rod Lurie keeps the tension tight and the momentum building, letting the script earn its triumphs through strategy, dignity, and escalating stakes rather than empty noise. It is violent and harsh in places, and if you’re allergic to “men in a pressure-cooker” stories you may find it blunt, but if you want a smart, satisfying showdown with terrific performances and a genuinely stirring pulse, this one delivers.
