Recess: School's Out (2001)

Recess: School’s Out takes the everyday magic of the playground and blows it up into a full-on, big-screen adventure, without losing the warm, kid-level perspective that made the show so lovable. It’s brisk, funny, and surprisingly clever in how it turns summer vacation into something worth fighting for, mixing sci-fi silliness with the kind of teamwork-and-friendship heart that actually lands. The voice cast keeps the banter snappy, the villainy is enjoyably over-the-top, and the soundtrack gives the whole thing a buoyant, end-of-school-year rush. If you didn’t grow up with Recess, some of the character familiarity might not hit as hard, but as a family-friendly comedy with real momentum and a sincere love of being a kid, it’s an easy crowd-pleaser.
