The Believer (2001)

The problem is that Henry Bean’s film can feel more like a series of intense ideas and confrontations than a clean, coherent descent, so if you need tight focus and clear motivations, you may find it frustrating or emotionally distancing. It’s also a grim watch, with racist violence and an implied child murder hanging over it, so don’t go in expecting catharsis or easy moral hand-holding.
