Intacto takes a wonderfully audacious idea—luck as a tangible currency you can win, lose, or even steal—and spins it into a sleek, nerve-tight thriller that feels like a fever dream you can’t stop watching. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo stages its escalating games of chance with the confidence of a magician: stylish, precise, and always one step ahead, while the film’s undercurrent of romance and melancholy gives the danger real emotional weight. The vibe is cool and kinetic, equal parts noirish chase and existential gamble, building suspense not with cheap shocks but with the delicious dread of watching fate get tested. It’s not for everyone—there’s some violence, strong language, and brief nudity—but if you’re hungry for something genuinely original that treats genre like a playground, this one earns its title.

Intacto is clearly aiming for a slick, fate-vs-free-will thriller where “luck” is treated like a real, tradable force, and the setup is undeniably intriguing. The problem is that it often keeps you at arm’s length emotionally, so the characters can feel more like pieces in a concept than people you’re meant to care about, and the increasingly extreme games don’t always feel credible enough to fully buy in.
