In the city of Oedo 2808a.d., three Cyber criminals are given two choices, to either rot in jail or to join a special force of the Cyber Police to get possibly one more chance at freedom ever again. For each criminal apprehended, and for each successful mission done, the state will agree to reduce their sentences. Lead by Hasegawa, the new recruits: Sengoku, Gogul, and Benton will bring some hard justice to Oedo and possibly taste freedom again.

Explained

What people think about Cyber City Oedo 808

Cyber City Oedo 808 is the kind of lean, electrified cyberpunk that feels like it was forged in neon and adrenaline—three tightly wound stories that hit like short, brutal bursts of imagination, then linger with an unexpectedly moody aftertaste. Director Yoshiaki Kawajiri brings a painter’s eye for futuristic grime and a brawler’s sense of momentum, so the action is sharp, the suspense is mean, and the pacing never lets you get comfortable. What really sells it, though, is the trio at its center: criminals forced into doing the law’s dirty work, sketched with enough attitude and vulnerability that you start caring even while the world keeps turning the screws. It’s violent and stylized, and the blend of sci-fi, horror, and crime won’t be for everyone—but if you want a cult-classic jolt of anime storytelling that builds to a melancholic, satisfying finish, Oedo delivers.
