The problem is it’s deliberately opaque and underwritten, so if you need clear motivations, coherent plotting, or even basic emotional signposts, you’ll likely feel stranded and bored between shocks. And make no mistake: the shocks are extreme—graphic sexual violence and gore that can feel more punishing than purposeful if you’re not on Denis’ wavelength.
