Duwayne Dunham keeps the pace breezy and the tone warmly quirky, letting the comedy land while the idea of “growing up different” feels surprisingly relatable rather than gimmicky. Chez Starbuck makes Cody’s confusion and excitement easy to root for, and the friendship dynamics—especially with the science-nerd ally who actually matters—give the adventure a cozy, small-town charm.
