Patrick Dempsey brings an accessible humanity to Jeremiah’s calling, while Oliver Reed and Klaus Maria Brandauer lend the political and military power struggles a stern, lived-in authority that makes the world feel dangerous and real. The tone is sober, reverent, and occasionally harrowing, with bursts of violence that underscore the stakes rather than glamorize them, so it’s best for viewers who can handle some intense scenes. Jeremiah is clearly aiming for a sincere, Bible-epic TV drama about faith under pressure, with Patrick Dempsey playing the prophet more as a principled human being than a larger-than-life legend.
