She's All That (1999)

She’s All That is the rare teen rom-com that knows it’s working with a familiar fairy-tale setup and still finds fresh sparkle in the way it observes high school’s messy pecking order. Freddie Prinze Jr. brings an easy likability, but it’s Rachael Leigh Cook who makes the movie sing—funny, guarded, and quietly magnetic in a way that turns a “makeover” premise into something more human. The vibe is late-’90s bright and breezy, with sharp little jokes, a warm heartbeat under the gloss, and just enough sincerity to make the swoony moments land. It won’t convert you if you hate prom-night fantasies or PG-13 raunch, but if you’re on the fence, this one earns its place as comfort viewing with real charm.
