Flawless (1999)

Flawless is clearly aiming for a heartfelt odd-couple redemption story, using an unlikely friendship and music as a bridge across prejudice and trauma. The problem is it keeps tripping over its own ambitions: the plot gets busy and convoluted, piling on side threads that distract from the emotional core and make the pacing feel jumbled. You’ll also see some beats coming a mile away, and a few characters register more as types than fully lived-in people.
