The problem is the jokes often feel like they’re going through the motions, never quite landing as either sharp satire or big, silly farce, so the whole thing can come off bland despite the inherently fun premise. If you’re expecting genuinely clever crime-comedy energy or a romance with real spark, this may feel like a pleasant but forgettable time-waster. That said, Grant’s flustered persona and James Caan’s gruff warmth do provide a few enjoyable moments if you’re in the mood for something mild, safe, and undemanding.
