It’s proudly adult, knowingly trashy, and packed with twists and dark humor, but if explicit sexuality and a cynical, anything-goes vibe aren’t your thing, you’ll want to steer clear.

The problem is the plotting keeps piling on twists and contrivances until it starts feeling less like clever misdirection and more like the movie daring you to keep a straight face. If you’re allergic to glossy late-90s sleaze, heavy sexual content, and a story that prioritizes shock and scandal over plausibility, you’ll probably find it exhausting rather than thrilling. Still, the cast sells the material better than it deserves, and if you enjoy pulpy, trashy noir as a guilty pleasure, it can be entertaining in a “what on earth is happening now” way.
