The vibe is tense and muscular, with bursts of violence and a paranoid edge as the quarantine tightens and the threat shifts from microscopic to human, and it doesn’t pretend to be subtle so much as relentlessly watchable. If you’re looking for prestige drama, this isn’t it, but if you want a brisk ’90s genre mash-up with a distinctive premise and a surprisingly effective survival-and-containment atmosphere, it’s an easy one to queue up.
