Explained

What people think about Most Wanted

Most Wanted is the kind of lean, high-octane ’90s thriller that doesn’t pretend to be subtle—it just grabs you by the collar and sprints, powered by a terrific “wrong man” hook and a pace that keeps tightening the screws. Keenen Ivory Wayans makes an unexpectedly solid action lead, selling both the Marine competence and the panic of being turned into a national target, while Jon Voight brings a slick, venomous authority that makes every scene feel a little more dangerous. Director David Hogan keeps the momentum brisk and the set pieces cleanly staged, so even when the conspiracy machinery feels familiar, it’s familiar in the satisfying way a good paperback page-turner is. If you’re in the mood for smart-ish, muscular escapism with an R-rated edge—and you don’t mind a plot that’s more “idiotic entertainment done with skill” than airtight realism—this one is a surprisingly fun chase to go on.
