Breakdown (1997)

Breakdown is the kind of lean, old-fashioned thriller that grabs you by the collar and never loosens its grip, turning an everyday road trip into a white-knuckle test of will. Breakdown is trying to be a lean, old-school “ordinary guy in a nightmare” thriller, and for a while it works because the setup is simple, the desert setting is nasty, and the tension is nicely wound.
