Under Yuen Woo-Ping’s buoyant direction, the fights aren’t just impressive—they’re inventive, rhythmic, and gleefully over-the-top, with wire-fu set pieces that feel like live-action cartoons executed with real athletic skill. Jacky Wu brings an earnest charm to the hero, and the film’s flirtatious romance and broad humor keep the energy light even when the brawls get fierce. If you prefer grounded, gritty combat you may find it too fanciful, but if you want an entertaining, high-spirited blend of action and comedy, this one is an easy crowd-pleaser.
