The film’s London feels lived-in and bruised, a place where tenderness and danger share the same alleyway, and the romance that emerges carries the fragile thrill of hope earned rather than granted. If you want a fast, melodramatic period soap, this may feel too pensive, but if you’re drawn to intimate stories of survival with a lingering atmosphere, it’s quietly compelling.
