Glory Daze (1995)
Jack, a soon-to-be graduate, finds he's having a difficult time letting go of the college life -- and decides maybe he doesn't have to. Also questioning whether there's life after college are Jack's roommates: Rob, who fears domestication; comic-strip artist Mickey, who's shy around girls; intellectual party animal Slosh; and perpetual student Dennis.
What people think about Glory Daze
Glory Daze feels special because it captures that jittery, half-laughing, half-panicked moment when college ends and real life starts knocking—then admits you might not be ready to answer. It’s a warm, hangout-style comedy that finds honest humor in late-night debates, half-baked plans, and the quiet fear that adulthood means losing your people and your possibilities. The movie’s nostalgia is earned rather than syrupy, carried by a soundtrack that locks you into the era and a cast that makes these roommates feel like friends you used to know. If you want a big, plot-heavy comedy, this might feel loose, but if you’re in the mood for a relatable little gem about post-adolescent anxiety with a generous heart, it hits surprisingly deep.
Glory Daze is clearly trying to be a laid-back, post-college hangout comedy about that scary moment when the party ends and real life starts, with a group of roommates clinging to their campus identities. The problem is it often feels like it’s coasting—more meandering conversations and familiar “fear of adulthood” beats than actual comedic momentum or fresh insight. The direction has a rough, low-energy vibe and the characters can come off more like sketches of types than people you’ll genuinely care about, which makes the whole thing feel a bit bland and oddly long even at its runtime. If you like low-stakes, ’90s slacker atmosphere and don’t need big laughs or a strong plot, you might find it mildly comforting; if you want sharp writing or memorable comedy, this probably isn’t your night.
