Faithful is aiming for a darkly comic, stagey cat-and-mouse between a woman at rock bottom and the hitman sent to finish her off, with the twist being that her will to live kicks in at the worst possible moment. The problem is it often feels more like actors delivering clever lines in a room than a movie with momentum, so the tension and emotional stakes can come off static and strangely weightless. If you’re hoping for sharp crime thrills or a drama with real bite, the predictability and thin substance may leave you checking the clock. Still, the leads do what they can and there are flashes of witty dialogue, so it may work best if you enjoy theatrical, performance-driven dark comedies and don’t need much cinematic energy.
