What people think about All Dogs Go to Heaven 2
All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 has that rare sequel spark: it’s brisk, oddball, and surprisingly heartfelt, the kind of animated adventure that keeps hopping from one colorful predicament to the next without losing its emotional compass. Charlie and Itchy’s return feels like slipping back into a scruffy, streetwise fairy tale—part romance, part fantasy chase—with a voice cast that gives the characters warmth and mischief even when they’re making the wrong choices. Beneath the jokes and the madcap quest is a genuine story about choosing someone else’s well-being over your own impulses, and it lands with more sincerity than you might expect. It’s not for every family—some scenes are a little off-kilter and may unsettle very young kids—but if you’re in the mood for a fast-moving, character-driven cartoon with a slightly darker edge and a big heart, it’s an easy yes.
All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 is clearly trying to recapture the first film’s mix of heart, mischief, and a “learn to be better” message by sending Charlie and Itchy on a magical scavenger hunt with a runaway kid at the center. The problem is it often feels scattershot and oddly paced, with a toned-down sense of adventure and a string of “what am I watching?” moments that can come off more off-kilter than charming. If you’re hoping for the emotional punch and cohesion of the original, this sequel may feel flat and a bit uninspired, and some of the devilish imagery and strange gags could unsettle younger viewers despite the family label. Still, there are pockets of warmth in Charlie’s growth and a few friendly, goofy beats, so it can work as low-stakes background viewing for kids who already love the characters and don’t mind the weirdness.
