It’s less a breakneck action ride than a cultured, slow-burn mystery—perfect if you like your suspense elegant and art-soaked, but maybe not for those craving nonstop thrills.

Uncovered is clearly aiming for a classy, art-world thriller where an old painting unlocks a deadly modern mystery, and the setup has the right ingredients for intrigue. The problem is it plays out in a way that feels routine and oddly unconvincing, with twists you can spot coming and a story that doesn’t really earn its suspense. The performances, including Kate Beckinsale’s, can come off stiff or forced, and the score frequently barges in at the worst moments, undercutting tension instead of building it.
