Leprechaun 2 (1994)

Leprechaun 2 knows exactly what it is: a gleefully nasty little St. Patrick’s Day carnival ride where the horror is punctured by punchlines and the punchlines land because the movie commits to its own absurdity. Rodman Flender gives the sequel a brighter, more confident polish than you might expect, and the story zips along with the kind of B-movie momentum that keeps you leaning forward even when you’re laughing at how shameless it all is. Warwick Davis is the secret weapon—part impish showman, part pint-sized slasher—turning every scene into a wicked performance that’s as funny as it is menacing. If you want solemn, prestige scares, look elsewhere; but if you’re on the fence about a horror-comedy that delivers more inventive mayhem, smoother craft, and a knowing wink without ever breaking the spell, this one’s an easy yes.

Leprechaun 2 is clearly trying to be a goofy, St. Patrick’s Day-flavored slasher with Warwick Davis mugging his way through nasty little set pieces and cheap one-liners. The problem is it feels like a rerun of the first film with a new city backdrop, leaning on contrived plot mechanics and “because the script says so” logic to move from kill to kill. If you’re hoping for clever horror-comedy or a story that builds momentum, this will likely feel cynical and repetitive, with characters who mostly exist to be pushed into the next gag. But if you enjoy low-budget ‘90s schlock, practical gore, and Davis committing hard to the bit, it can still work as a dumb, disposable midnight watch.
