Asterix Conquers America is clearly trying to be a light, kid-friendly “fish out of water” adventure, swapping the usual Roman slapstick for a New World detour and broad culture-clash comedy. The problem is it can feel like a thinner, more generic Asterix outing: the jokes are hit-or-miss, the pacing wanders, and the animation and musical bits won’t impress anyone expecting the snappier charm of the best entries. It also leans on dated Native American caricatures that may pull you out of the fun, even if the film’s intent is playful rather than nasty.
