Fit to Kill (1993)

Fit to Kill is the kind of breezy, sun-splashed action-thriller that knows exactly what it is: a glossy Andy Sidaris romp where danger, glamour, and cheeky flirtation share the same frame. Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez make a winning duo as Donna and Nicole, gliding from shootouts to seduction with a confident, B-movie swagger that turns the diamond-chase premise into pure “time-killer good” entertainment. The vibe is light, pulpy, and unabashedly escapist—more postcard adventure and playful espionage than gritty realism—punctuated by fights, explosions, and a winking sense of fun. It’s definitely not for everyone, especially if you’re not in the mood for plentiful R-rated sexuality and nudity alongside the violence, but if you want a knowingly trashy thrill ride that delivers exactly the goods, it’s an easy yes.

Fit to Kill is trying to deliver exactly what you’d expect from Andy Sidaris: a glossy, breezy female-spy adventure with guns, gadgets, exotic locales, and plenty of cheesecake framing it all. The problem is it’s so locked into that formula that the “thriller” stakes feel perfunctory, the romance is more pose than spark, and even fans of his usual skin-and-stunts routine may find this one oddly tame and low-impact. If you’re looking for tight action choreography, suspense that actually builds, or characters with depth, this will feel like a repetitive highlight reel without the highlights. That said, if you enjoy campy early-’90s B-movie vibes, attractive leads, and uncomplicated shootouts that never ask much of you, it can still work as lazy background entertainment.
