Young Guns II is clearly trying to turn Billy the Kid into a larger-than-life folk legend, mixing a “maybe he survived” framing device with a fast, road-chase Western to Old Mexico. The problem is it often feels like a glossy rerun of the first film: lots of posturing, gunfire, and swagger, but the story can seem unfinished and oddly meandering when it should be tightening the noose.
