What makes Marek Koterski’s Porno special is how it takes a title that sounds like a dare and turns it into something far more intimate: a corrosive, darkly funny confession about a man who’s mistaken appetite for love and now has to live with the echo of that mistake. Zbigniew Rola gives a raw, unvarnished performance that pulls you uncomfortably close to Michał’s memories, letting the humor curdle into melancholy without ever feeling like a lecture. The film’s vibe is deliberately abrasive and self-aware, using discomfort as a tool to expose emptiness rather than glamorize it, and that’s exactly why it lingers after the credits. It’s not for everyone—its sexual content is explicit and its worldview can feel harsh—but if you can handle a provocative, unsparing character study, it’s a fascinating watch.

Porno is trying to be a bleak, confessional comedy-romance about a bitter middle-aged man looking back on sex, love, and the emptiness he feels after chasing the wrong things. The problem is that it often lands as mean-spirited rather than insightful, with misogynistic attitudes, ugly violence, and “jokes” dropped into moments that really shouldn’t be played for laughs. If you’re expecting eroticism, warmth, or even a sharp satire, you may instead find a simplified, repetitive spiral of regret that can feel more like wallowing than storytelling, with references to molestation that many viewers will find deeply off-putting. The main redeeming quality is its willingness to stare at male self-delusion without flinching, but unless you can tolerate intentionally unpleasant material in service of a grim character study, this one is easy to regret watching.
