It’s not for viewers who shy away from bloody violence or pulpy excess, but if you want a bombastic revenge-thriller with real bite and a villain you’ll love to hate, this one earns its reputation.

Marked for Death is trying to be a gritty “one man cleans up his neighborhood” thriller with a dash of occult menace, and it absolutely commits to that pulpy, early-90s Seagal vibe. The problem is the execution: the plot is as predictable as it gets, the characters are thin, and the murky cinematography plus uneven pacing can make the action feel less punchy than it should. It also leans hard into Jamaican gang stereotypes and voodoo imagery in a way that may feel dated or tasteless depending on your tolerance for that kind of shortcut storytelling.
