Heart Condition (1990)

Heart Condition has the kind of high-concept hook Hollywood doesn’t gamble on much anymore: a hard-edged cop forced into an intimate, impossible partnership that turns his life into a moral tug-of-war with a supernatural twist. The problem is it rarely finds a steady tone: it lurches between comedy, crime, drama, and fantasy in a way that feels chaotic and oddly stitched together, so scenes that should be funny or moving often land flat. If you’re hoping for a sharp, consistently funny satire or a coherent crime story, this can feel like a clumsy misfire that wastes its premise. That said, the central idea has a pulpy B-movie appeal, and the cast’s energy occasionally cuts through the mess if you’re in the mood for something messy but curious.
