The Dream Team (1989)

The Dream Team is the kind of high-concept comedy that shouldn’t work on paper and then does, largely because it’s powered by a terrific ensemble that treats the characters like people first and punchlines second. Michael Keaton’s manic spark, Christopher Lloyd’s delightfully precise oddball authority, and Peter Boyle’s big-hearted presence turn a wild New York misadventure into something surprisingly warm, with real momentum and just enough crime-thriller edge to keep the laughs moving. The vibe is scrappy, late-’80s city-chaos fun—part buddy comedy, part chase movie—where the humor comes from personality and timing more than cheap mockery.
