Caged Fury (1990)
Kat arrives in Los Angeles to audition for movies. However, after meeting a sleazy producer, she and her new friend find themselves in a women's prison run by sadistic guards and a lesbian warden.
What people think about Caged Fury
Caged Fury is the kind of gloriously disreputable time capsule that turns “so bad it’s good” into an art form: a sleazy, neon-lit women-in-prison romp where every scene seems determined to outdo the last in absurdity. Bill Milling leans hard into the camp, with performances pitched at a deliciously over-the-top volume and a vibe that’s equal parts grindhouse trash and midnight-movie dare, the kind you watch with friends just to hear everyone gasp and laugh at the sheer nerve of it. If you’re on the fence, know this isn’t “good” in a conventional sense—it’s entertaining because it’s ridiculous, brazen, and weirdly watchable, especially if you have a soft spot for exploitation theatrics and genre clichés pushed to cartoon extremes. Fair warning, though: the film’s sexual violence, nudity, and harsh prison brutality are not window dressing, so it’s best suited to viewers who can handle rough content while appreciating the campy, chaotic spectacle.
Caged Fury is clearly aiming for sleazy late-night “women-in-prison” exploitation with some action beats and a simple escape hook, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything more elevated than that. The problem is it’s not even fun-trashy: the plot is nonsensical, the editing is rough, and the cheap production makes everything feel slapped together rather than enjoyably outrageous. Worse, it leans hard into sexual humiliation and assault, so if you’re looking for camp, wit, or cathartic revenge thrills, you may just feel grimy and annoyed. The only real draw is if you have a high tolerance for low-budget exploitation and you’re specifically collecting this era’s trash cinema—otherwise, your time is better spent elsewhere.
