Not of This Earth (1988) is the kind of late-night sci-fi/horror comedy that knows exactly what it is: a brisk, cheerfully sleazy B-movie with a straight-faced alien menace and a wicked sense of timing. Jim Wynorski keeps the whole thing lively with pulpy visual gimmicks, droll characters, and a pace that rarely lets the absurd premise sit still long enough to get stale. Traci Lords is the secret weapon, playing the increasingly suspicious nurse with a light comic touch that makes the film’s campy shocks and one-liners land.
