Just Heroes wants to deliver classic John Woo-style brotherhood, betrayal, and balletic gunplay in a Hong Kong crime saga about three adopted sons fighting to fill a murdered boss’s shoes. The problem is it often feels like the familiar beats are being rushed through on autopilot, with a cluttered, convoluted plot that doesn’t give the characters enough room to land emotionally. Pacing lurches from setup to shootout without the connective tissue, so if you’re hoping for the operatic clarity and heart of Woo’s best, this can come off bland and oddly hard to care about.
